Implications for Reentry Induction

چکیده
We have investigated the effects of electric field stimulation on membrane repolarization in rabbit papillary muscles and assessed the consequences of these effects for the dispersion of intracellular potentials and the production of a propagation wave front or unidirectional block in relatively refractory tissue. The stimuli studied had electric field strength of 0.25-14 V/cm, duration of 2 msec, and field orientation along or across the myocardial fibers. The field strengths to excite the muscles in diastole were 0.68 or 1.23 V/cm for stimuli oriented along or across the fibers, respectively (p<0.01, along versus across). A 2.5-V/cm stimulus given near the end of the action potential (AP) produced either no response or, after increasing the stimulus delay only 2-3 msec, a full response with almost no AP durations that

An S1 gradient of refractoriness is not essential for reentry induction by an S2 stimulus
This communication reports a numerical simulation of reentry induction by successive stimulation (S1-S2) that does not require an S1 gradient of refractoriness. The S1 action potential is uniform in space, so before the S2 stimulus there is no refractory gradient. Nevertheless, a unipolar S2 stimulus initiates quatrefoil reentry. The result supports the growing realization that virtual electrod...
متن کاملSpontaneous termination of reentry after one cycle or short nonsustained runs. Role of oscillations and excess dispersion of refractoriness.
This study describes factors that contribute to spontaneous termination of reentry lasting one to 10 cycles after induction by a single premature stimulus. Reentry was studied in vitro in rings of canine atrial tissue from around the tricuspid valve orifice. Activation was recorded from a circular array of 10 extracellular bipolar electrodes equally spaced around the ring. In some experiments, ...

A numerical trajectory optimization study of two types of lifting-entry reentry vehicle has been presented at low suborbital speed of 4.113 km/s and -15 degree entry angle. These orbital speeds are typical of medium range ballistic missile with ballistic range of approximately 2000 km at optimum burnout angle of approximately 41 degree for maximum ballistic range. A lifting reentry greatly enha...
متن کاملDouble-wave reentry as a mechanism of acceleration of ventricular tachycardia.
By using a Langendorff-perfused ring of anisotropic rabbit epicardium, sustained reentrant ventricular tachycardia with a cycle length of 168 +/- 13 msec (n = 26) was induced by programmed electrical stimulation. Continuous left ventricular epicardial mapping with 256 simultaneously recorded unipolar electrograms demonstrated that the tachycardia was based on circuital movement of the impulse a...
متن کاملA Three Stage Terminal Fuzzy Guidance Law for Reentry Vehicles
An advanced guidance law is developed for reentry phase of a reentry vehicle. It can achieve small miss distance and desired impact attitude angle, simultanceously. To meet this requirment a guidance law based on the fuzzy logic approach is developed. It is partitioned into three stages. This guidance law does not require linearization of missile engagement model. Line-of-sight and flight path ...

The left atrium was stimulated from the coronary sinus in 13 patients and directly through a patent foramen ovale in two patients. Baseline fast-AVN-pathway AH intervals were significantly shorter with left atrial stimulation. Maximum AH intervals for conduction over the fast or slow AVN pathwa...
